Disaster management leaders, government officials, humanitarian organisations, academics, and private sector stakeholders converged at the Khayalami Hotel in Mbombela on 22–23 July 2026 for a two-day Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Early Warning for All (EW4ALL), and Disaster Management Professionalisation Seminar.
The seminar was hosted by the Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa (DMISA) in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC), the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the South African Red Cross Society (SARCS), Santam, and the Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande and Nkangala District Municipalities.
Held under the theme ‘Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction, Early Warning for All and the Professionalisation of Disaster Management’, the seminar promoted collaboration, disaster resilience and professional excellence across the disaster management sector.

The programme included presentations from the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC), the South African Weather Service (SAWS), the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), SALGA, SARCS, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), provincial and local government, Santam, private sector partners, and higher education institutions.
The seminar aligned with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and supports South Africa's ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster risk governance and community resilience.
